Kitchen remodel

We designed this kitchen with the plan to utilise the small amount of space the customer had. The original kitchen featured a tall oven housing, that took up the majority of the room, a small sink cabinet and a undercounter integrated fridge freezer. We removed the old kitchen and transformed the space to include more worktop retail and more storage. They wanted a bright and fun colour for the kitchen cabinets to liven up the room and be cohesive with the rest of the apartment, as the kitchen leads into the living room and features a open hatch that looks through into the entrance area.

We extended the kitchen out, and have used the outside wall of the kitchen as additional storage for the kitchen itself. With a drawerline base unit for cutlery and a standard height wall unit above.

Kitchen features

This Kitchen features a tall wall unit that stands at 120cm in height and 60cm in width.

By removing the original tall oven housing unit it allowed us to have more worktop space which was one of the customers main priorities. And by choosing a tall wall unit over the standard utilises the height of the kitchen while proving more kitchen storage. The wall cabinet has integrated lighting underneath which we had wired to the switch on the outside wall.

Underneath the worktop we now have the integrated fridge freezer, 60cm under counter oven unit, and a 45cm sink cabinet.

The worktop is a Scavolini laminate in Hub Oak and is used in the kitchen as well as on the drawerline unit outside of the kitchen. The warmth of the worktop works well with the wood accents throughout the apartment and wooden floors. It also compliments the blues of the kitchen cabinets and the soft mink cream colour of the living room units.

Outside of the kitchen we have a 60cm drawerline base unit and a 60x80cm wall unit both in Scavolini matt lacquered Mink slat door fronts. We chose a more muted and natural colour for these units as they are placed in the living room, and we wanted something toned down that would work with the living room decor. But the slatt effect creates depth and texture to the units that makes them a standout, stylish feature to the room. By having units directly outside of the kitchen, it gives the customers more space for storage and having them in a different colour creates separation from the kitchen.
